Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership position for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives on driving performance, developing people, and delivering meaningful business insight.If you're as comfortable rolling up your sleeves as well as playing a key part in the development of the function this could be the perfect next step in your career.### The OpportunityAs Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day management of a sizeable finance function, leading teams across Accounts, Payroll and Credit Control. You'll oversee the delivery of accurate financial reporting while helping to transform finance from a traditional reporting function into a proactive, commercially focused business partner.This is more than a financial control role. It's an opportunity to influence business performance, drive operational improvements and lead a team of over 20 finance professionals through the next stage of growth.### What You'll Be Doing* Leading and developing a high-performing finance team* Owning the monthly management accounts and reporting cycle* Delivering meaningful commercial insights to senior leadership* Driving budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management* Building strong relationships across operational and commercial teams* Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and performance* Leading finance systems, process improvement and automation initiatives* Maintaining robust financial controls and governance standards* Supporting strategic finance projects and future transformation plans### What We're Looking ForYou will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a proven track record in finance leadership and business partnering.You'll bring:Experience leading and developing sizeable finance teamsStrong management accounting and financial reporting expertiseThe ability to translate financial data into commercial insightExcellent systems knowledge and process improvement experienceAdvanced Excel and analytical capabilitiesA proactive, commercially focused mindsetExceptional stakeholder management and communication skillsConfidence to challenge, influence and support operational leadersBonus Points ForExperience within:Recruitment, staffing or temporary labour sectorsHigh-volume payroll, billing and credit control environmentsFinance transformation and systems implementation projectsMulti-site and/or multi-company organisationsExperience of implementing AI solutions into systems or processesWhy Join The Best Connection?Founded in 1991, The Best Connection has grown into one of the UK's leading providers of flexible workforce solutions.
