Senior Finance Officer

In this role you will support the Financial Management function across the annual cycle, from budgeting to year-end closure, enabling sound financial decisions for council-wide operations. You will work closely with colleagues across departments to improve processes and ensure accurate reporting. The role offers a mix of clarity and autonomy, with opportunities to contribute to policy development and service improvements in a dynamic public sector environment.

• Set budgets and monitor budget outturn across departments
• Close down accounts at financial year-end and support year-end reporting
• Prepare and present financial analyses and reports to stakeholders
• Contribute to process improvements and innovative problem-solving
• Provide guidance on accounting treatment for schools funding
• Collaborate with colleagues at all levels to plan and prioritise work

• Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians
• Part qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent
• Local government or health finance experience
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Highly organised and able to plan and prioritise work
