Technical Director / Director - Structures Energy

In this Technical Director role, you lead structural engineering for major energy infrastructure projects, shaping design strategy and technical excellence. You will guide cross‑functional teams, manage client relationships, and drive innovation across substations, transmission and distribution facilities, and related assets. The position sits within the Building Structures group during a growth phase, offering influence over project planning and risk management. You’ll partner with clients and colleagues to deliver sustainable, integrated solutions at national scale.

• Lead the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence
• Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions
• Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership
• Experience in substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, overhead line projects, power stations, or petrochemical facilities
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
