Management Accountant

We’re recruiting a Management Accountant for an established business in Bury St Edmunds, joining them on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the operational side of a business. Rather than simply producing the numbers, you’ll work alongside key stakeholders to understand what’s driving performance, provide meaningful commercial insight and help teams make better informed decisions.

The Role Working within the site finance team, you’ll take responsibility for a varied workload including:

Preparing and reviewing regular management reporting for the site

Working closely with operational managers to help them understand financial performance and key cost drivers

Investigating variances and turning financial data into clear, useful insight

Playing an active role in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning

Identifying areas where costs, processes and overall performance could be improved

Supporting business improvement projects and assessing their financial impact

Providing finance input into operational meetings and decision-making

Assisting the wider finance function with additional analysis and project work when required 

About You We’re looking for someone who can combine strong management accounting skills with a genuinely commercial approach.

You’ll ideally be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or currently studying, although your ability to engage with the wider business will be just as important as your technical accounting knowledge. 

You should be:

Confident working with and interpreting financial data

Comfortable communicating with stakeholders outside of finance

Able to challenge and influence in a positive, constructive way

Highly organised and comfortable working to deadlines

A strong Excel user with the ability to work effectively with large data sets This role would particularly suit someone who likes to understand the story behind the numbers and wants a position where they can have regular interaction with the operational side of a business.
