Group Credit Control Manager
Role Description & Overview
An established business with operations across Ireland and the UK is looking for an experienced credit professional to lead its collections team and improve working capital performance.
With responsibility for a substantial receivables portfolio, you will combine people management with commercial decision-making, ensuring the business collects efficiently while maintaining strong customer relationships.
This position suits someone who enjoys developing a team, resolving complex accounts, and turning financial information into practical improvements.
Your remit
You will own day-to-day credit management, lead a team of 4, and work closely with colleagues across Finance, Sales, and Customer Service.
Key priorities will include:
- Establishing clear collection targets and accountability across the team.
- Improving cash conversion through focused management of overdue balances and payment performance.
- Assessing customer exposure and recommending credit facilities and trading terms.
- Leading sensitive negotiations, significant overdue accounts, and unresolved billing disputes.
- Providing management with clear visibility of debtor performance, emerging risks and collection priorities.
- Contributing to cash flow projections and assessing potential bad debt exposure.
- Reviewing systems and workflows to reduce manual administration and improve collection effectiveness.
- Overseeing invoicing and payment processes involving EDI platforms and customer procurement portals.
- Maintaining consistent credit policies, controls and escalation procedures across the businesses.
The customer portfolio spans large corporate organisations, agricultural customers and independent commercial businesses, requiring a flexible approach to collections and relationship management.
Your background
You will bring a strong track record in credit management or accounts receivable leadership within a sizeable organisation. You should be confident managing people, handling complex customer accounts and influencing colleagues beyond the finance function.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Successful leadership and development of a credit or collections team.
- Measurable improvements in overdue debt, DSO or cash collection.
- Sound judgement when balancing customer relationships with credit exposure.
- Experience working with varied customer types and high transaction volumes.
- Familiarity with electronic invoicing and customer payment portals.
- The ability to interpret debtor data and communicate clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Why consider the role?
You will have the scope to shape how the function operates, develop an experienced team and make a measurable contribution to the financial performance of a growing business.
