Financial Controller

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join an international business. The position has become available on a fixed term basis of 9 nine months. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the UK finance function, supported by two finance team members. This position offers a combination of hands-on financial management, team leadership and business partnering within a global group.

Financial Controller – About the Role

You will be responsible for the smooth running of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial controls and clear financial insight to support business performance.

Working closely with UK leadership and the wider group finance team, you will lead budgeting and forecasting, oversee cash flow and working capital, and identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems and processes. Your

key responsibilities will include

• Managing the day-to-day finance function and supporting the development of two finance team members.
• Preparing, reviewing and submitting monthly management accounts through OneStream, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Leading the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Supporting UK leadership in achieving annual revenue, operating expenditure, EBITDA and net working capital targets.
• Preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Managing cash flow to ensure sufficient funding to meet business commitments.
• Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting.
• Coordinating external audits and supporting external accountants with statutory accounts preparation.
• Ensuring timely and accurate VAT and other applicable statutory returns.
• Overseeing payroll and coordinating annual insurance renewals with group colleagues and external brokers.
• Reviewing stock levels and supporting cycle counts and annual stocktakes.
• Driving improvements across financial reporting, systems, processes and controls.

Financial Controller –

About You

You will be a qualified accountant with previous experience within manufacturing and a strong background in management reporting. Comfortable taking ownership of a finance function, you will combine technical expertise with a practical approach and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will have:

• An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Experience within a manufacturing environment would be preferred but not essential
• Previous line management experience, with the ability to support and develop a finance team.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial information into clear business insight.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 and OneStream would be advantageous.
