Finance Director (Germany) - (m/f/d)

ZeroGeo Energy is a geothermal energy company delivering Energy From Rocks™. In 2026, ZeroGeo will commence the development of geothermal heat development project in Bavaria. It will also develop a Green Energy Hub, centered around an existing geothermal asset. The Green Energy Hub will consist of planning for, and implementing, a Battery Energy Storage System and a pilot project for a geothermal power plant.

ZeroGeo wishes to appoint a Finance Director who can help contribute to the energy transition by delivering baseload geothermal heat and power projects.

Objectives

Ensure financial stability; secure growth capital; utilize Germany’s and the EU’s funding options for energy and climate innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Planning & Budgeting
• Develop and manage annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans
• Monitor cash flow, burn rate, and runway for startup operations
• Build financial models to support strategic and operational decisions
• Prepare monthly management reports and KPIs for founders and investors
• Support equity and debt fundraising rounds (Seed, Series A/B, project financing)
• Help prepare financial models, pitch materials, and data rooms for investors
• Coordinate with investors, banks, and financial advisors
• Support valuation discussions and term sheet analysis
• Identify and evaluate German and EU funding programs (e.g. innovation, energy transition, climate tech)
• Prepare and submit grant and subsidy applications (e.g. BMWK, KfW, EU programs)
• Manage reporting and compliance requirements for funded projects
• Act as the main financial contact for public authorities and funding agencies

Accounting, Compliance & Processes

• Oversee accounting, tax, and payroll in coordination with external advisors
• Ensure compliance with German GAAP (HGB) and relevant regulations
• Set up and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting structures
• Support audits and due diligence processes

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business
• 4+ years of experience in finance
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Experience with capital raising and/or investor relations
• Solid understanding of German financial and tax environment
• Fluent in English and German
