Embedded Software Team Leader (R&D100)
Role Description & Overview
As Lead Embedded Software Engineer, you will guide a high-performing Linux-based embedded team to design and deliver next-generation products. You balance hands-on technical contribution with people leadership to ensure architectural excellence, quality, and timely execution. You will work cross-functionally with hardware, system engineering, QA, and product management to drive impactful solutions. This role offers the chance to shape embedded platforms at scale while fostering growth and continuous improvement.
Responsabilità- Lead and mentor an embedded software team to foster collaboration and continuous improvement
- Drive technical strategy and architecture for Linux-based embedded platforms
- Plan and coordinate development activities to align with goals, timelines, and quality
- Contribute hands-on to design, development, and debugging of complex embedded software
- Enforce best practices in coding, reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, and product management
- Manage technical risks, support root cause analysis, and resolve problems
- Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Master in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics
- Fluent in Italian and English
- 5+ years of embedded software experience
- Strong Linux embedded systems knowledge (kernel, drivers, system internals)
- Proficient in C/C++
- Solid experience with Yocto, Buildroot, or similar build systems
- Experience with debugging tools (gdb, strace, perf)
- Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet
- Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows
- Good understanding of performance optimization under resource constraints
- Proven experience leading software development teams
- Ability to work in cross-functional, international environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Mentoring and coaching mindset
