Interim Accountant

Temporary Accountant Job in Plymouth for 3 months.

An exciting educational organisation in Plymouth is seeking an experienced Temporary Accountant to join its finance team on an interim basis until the end of December 2026.

This is a varied and hands-on role that will provide vital support across the finance function, offering exposure to a wide range of accounting and finance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Supporting year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements
• Assisting with audit preparation and responding to audit queries
• Financial forecasting and budget monitoring
• Providing guidance and support to School Finance Officers
• Assisting with project-based finance initiatives
• Performing financial analysis and reporting as required
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting duties

About You

• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience accountant
• Previous experience within an education, academy trust, school, charity or not-for-profit environment would be highly advantageous
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting skills
• Experience of year-end processes and audit preparation
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative finance team
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Good working knowledge of financial systems and Excel
