Research Assistant
Role Description & Overview
Requisition ID: 8216
Location
Copenhagen, Danish Capital Region, DK
Are you a passionate, hands‑on, experimental neuroscience, interested in using advanced in vivo technologies to support the discovery of new treatments for brain diseases? Do you have experience in electrophysiology and/or functional imaging? Then you may be our new Research Assistant in Circuit Biology.
Your new role
As Research Assistant, you will be a key hands‑on contributor to Lundbeck’s early drug discovery projects, generating high‑quality in vivo pharmacology data that help us understand how novel treatments affect neuronal and neuromuscular function. You will work across central and peripheral in vivo electrophysiology, with opportunities to contribute to approaches such as EEG, multiunit and high‑density neuronal recordings, and neuromuscular electrophysiology. In close collaboration with scientists and project teams, you will plan and perform experiments, analyse and document data, troubleshoot methods, and help drive timely project decisions. You will also have the opportunity to broaden your expertise across other advanced in vivo platforms, including functional imaging with genetically encoded biosensors and neurochemical measurements. The role offers a strong development opportunity to build practical expertise in cutting‑edge neuroscience technologies while contributing directly to Lundbeck’s drug discovery pipeline.
Your future team
You will join the Circuit Biology Department at Lundbeck's headquarters. We are an experimental neuroscience group focused on understanding how brain circuits are altered in disease, and how our drug candidates can correct these.
Our department combines complementary approaches including:
- in vivo electrophysiology, including EEG and high‑density neuronal recordings
- ex vivo brain slice electrophysiology and imaging
- peripheral and neuromuscular electrophysiology
- neurochemistry using microdialysis and advanced perfusion approaches
We work closely with drug discovery project teams across our pipeline and place a strong emphasis on scientific quality, collaboration and developing experimental approaches that can answer critical questions for our projects.
The position is based in Valby, Copenhagen.
What you bring to the team
We are looking for someone who enjoys experimental work and is comfortable spending a substantial part of their time hands‑on in the laboratory. Ideally, you have:
- An MSc in neuroscience, physiology, biomedical science, pharmacology, biology or a related discipline.
- Hands‑on experience conducting in vivo experiments in rodents, preferably involving electrophysiology, neurophysiology or functional imaging.
- FELASA accreditation or equivalent qualification permitting experimental work with laboratory animals.
- Experience with animal surgery, physiological recordings or other technically demanding in vivo procedures.
- A solid understanding of experimental design, data quality and documentation.
- Experience with analysis of physiological or biological data using appropriate software.
- The ability to troubleshoot experimental procedures and learn new techniques quickly.
- A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to working in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Experience with techniques such as EEG, extracellular electrophysiology, high‑density neuronal recordings, peripheral nerve or muscle electrophysiology, or in vivo optical imaging would be an advantage, but we do not expect candidates to have experience across all of these areas.
Most importantly, you are curious, technically skilled and motivated by generating robust experimental data that directly contribute to drug discovery projects.
Our promise to you
Lundbeck offers an inspiring workplace and innovative culture, where our curiosity, accountability and adaptability enable us to transform lives. We want to go faster and further on addressing the big unmet needs of people living with brain disorders. We offer rewarding careers with a mix of exciting tasks and development opportunities that are balanced with initiatives focused on your well‑being.
Annual base salary range: 491 000 - 675 400 DKK gross.
At Lundbeck, we are committed to fair and transparent pay. Please note that the final base salary within the stated range will be based on relevant qualifications, skills, competencies, and level of proficiency as well as internal pay equity.
Applications must be received by 12 November 2026.
