About the Role

Verity Accountants is looking for a proactive, organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team based in Lea Bridge, London.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounts or finance experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment.

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, payroll administration and financial reporting. You will help maintain accurate financial records, ensure transactions are processed efficiently and support the wider team in meeting financial deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently.

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Monitor outstanding invoices and assist with credit control.

Carry out bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

Process supplier payments and assist with payment runs.

Support payroll processing and pension auto-enrolment.

Assist with statutory payments, including SSP and SMP, where required.

Maintain accurate financial records and update accounting systems.

Use Sage 50, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel for day-to-day accounting tasks.

Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.

Support the preparation of year-end accounts and financial documentation.

Respond to supplier and customer account queries professionally.

Ensure financial records are maintained in line with company procedures and relevant regulations.

Provide general administrative support to the finance team as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar accounting role.

A good understanding of general accounting processes, including purchase and sales ledgers.

Experience with accounting software such as Sage 50, QuickBooks or similar systems.

Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.

Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.

Good organisational and time-management skills.

The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

Strong communication skills and a professional approach.

The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.

An AAT qualification, or currently working towards one, is desirable but not essential.

Experience with payroll, pensions, reconciliations and credit control would be advantageous.
