Day Rate: £650.00 per day

Working Pattern: Hybrid – ideally 2–3 days per week on-site, with flexibility for suitable candidates

### The Assignment

LYNX Employment Services are recruiting an experienced Interim Technical Accountant to support a local authority's year-end accounts closedown programme as part of a wider financial transformation.

This is a technically focused appointment requiring someone who understands local government financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation and the practical demands of year-end closure.

The priority is to bring additional technical capacity and expertise into the finance function, supporting the delivery of the closedown programme and resolving complex accounting matters. The client needs someone who can make an immediate contribution. Recent, hands-on local authority accounting experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist technical accounting support throughout the year-end closedown process.

Support preparation and completion of the authority's statutory Statement of Accounts.

Apply relevant

requirements of the CIPFA Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting.

Review accounting treatments, reconciliations and year-end adjustments.

Investigate and resolve technical accounting issues affecting closedown.

Support the production of working papers, supporting schedules and audit evidence.

Work with finance colleagues to address outstanding accounting queries and improve the quality of financial information.

Contribute technical expertise to the wider financial transformation programme.

### Essential

Requirements

Recent, substantial UK local authority accounting experience.

Proven experience delivering or supporting local government year-end closedown.

Strong technical knowledge of local authority statutory accounting and financial reporting.

Practical understanding of the CIPFA Code and its application to the Statement of Accounts.

Ability to investigate technical accounting issues and work through complex reconciliations.

Confidence working independently and delivering against demanding closedown deadlines.

Immediate or short-notice availability.

### Particularly Relevant Experience

Experience working within a District or Borough Council would be especially valuable.

Candidates with recent experience as a Technical Accountant, Closedown Accountant, Chief Accountant, Principal Accountant or Interim Financial Accountant within local government are encouraged to apply.

Please note: Recent local authority experience is mandatory. Candidates whose experience is exclusively within the private sector or central government will not meet the client's

requirements.
